Critics Question Meghan’s Media Direction After Tepid Reviews of ‘With Love, Meghan’
Meghan Markle is once again at the center of career speculation, as critics and fans alike are urging the Duchess of Sussex to consider returning to her acting roots. The calls follow the underwhelming reception of the second season of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle-themed show that has failed to resonate with critics or audiences.
One of the most pointed critiques came from Mary McNamara of the Los Angeles Times, who did not hold back in her review. She called the first season “difficult to watch,” criticizing both the content and tone of the series. While McNamara acknowledged Meghan’s personal challenges and public scrutiny, she argued that Markle’s talents may be better served on screen in scripted roles, rather than in lifestyle media.
From Suits Star to Duchess—and Possibly Back Again?
Before becoming a royal, Meghan Markle enjoyed success in Hollywood, most notably playing Rachel Zane on the hit legal drama Suits. Her performance earned her a strong fan base and credibility as a rising actress. Since stepping down from royal duties with Prince Harry in 2020, the couple has focused on philanthropic and media efforts through their Archewell Foundation, as well as producing content for platforms like Netflix and Spotify.
However, many of those media ventures have faced mixed reviews and commercial struggles. Reports suggest that Markle’s multi-million dollar deal with Netflix has now been restructured into a “first look” agreement, indicating a scaled-back partnership.
Despite this, industry insiders believe that doors remain open for Meghan in the entertainment world, particularly in acting roles that align with her strengths and prior experience. McNamara and others suggest that a return to the screen—especially in meaningful, well-crafted roles—could reinvigorate her public image and professional momentum.
