Kylian Mbappé delivered a sensational performance as Real Madrid roared past Olympiacos in a high-intensity Champions League encounter. The French star struck four times, turning an early setback into a statement victory and reminding Europe why he remains one of football’s most devastating forwards.
Olympiacos shocked the visitors with an early thunderbolt from Francisco Chiquinho, who blasted in a superb 20-yard strike. But once Mbappé clicked into gear, the match transformed completely.
In a breathtaking seven-minute burst, Mbappé produced the second-fastest hat-trick in Champions League history. His opener came after a perfectly threaded pass from Vinícius Júnior, which he coolly tucked away. Minutes later, he climbed above the defence to head in Arda Güler’s pinpoint cross, before completing his hat-trick with a brilliantly timed run onto Eduardo Camavinga’s ball.
Mbappé even created what looked like another goal for Vinícius, but VAR intervened for offside. Real Madrid continued to dominate despite an injury-ravaged defence missing five first-choice defenders and their starting goalkeeper, with Aurélien Tchouaméni coming close as he struck the post.
Olympiacos stayed defiant. Substitute Mehdi Taremi powered in a header to lift the home crowd. But Mbappé responded yet again, finishing from close range after a slick combination with Vinícius to notch his fourth of the night. Late drama followed as Ayoub El Kaabi headed in a second for the hosts, but Madrid held firm.
The victory broke Madrid’s three-match winless streak and secured their first ever competitive win on Greek soil after nine failed attempts. The Spanish giants moved to fifth in the overall standings, three points behind Arsenal, while Olympiacos remained 33rd with two points.
MBAPPÉ’S RECORD-BREAKING NIGHT CONTINUES
Mbappé’s four-goal spectacle added to a remarkable Champions League campaign. He now leads the tournament with nine goals from five matches—already his best return in a single season. Across all competitions, he has amassed 22 goals in 18 appearances for Madrid.
“I feel great, I’m very happy,” Mbappé said after the match. “Scoring goals is always special. My teammates give me incredible service.”
His efficiency was ruthless in Athens, scoring four goals from just six attempts. The performance etched several milestones into the record books: his fourth career match with four or more goals, the second-fastest Champions League hat-trick ever, and the most away hat-tricks in European Cup/Champions League history. He also became the first Real Madrid player to net four goals in a European away fixture.
Real Madrid now prepare to host Manchester City on December 10, while Olympiacos head to Kazakhstan to face Kairat Almaty on December 9.
