Designer Calls Circulating Document ‘Possibly Fake’
Renowned fashion designer Maria Butt — popularly known as Maria B — has denied receiving any formal government notice amid reports circulating on social media. In a statement released over the weekend, she described the widely shared document as “possibly fabricated” and expressed concern over what she called the premature disclosure of confidential communication.
Maria questioned how a government document could surface on social platforms before reaching her through proper legal channels. “If and when I receive an official notice, I will respond through appropriate means,” she said.
The designer emphasized that she has not been approached directly by any government body and dismissed the viral document as a potential attempt to distract from her advocacy work.
Vows to Continue Advocacy for Islamic Family System
Maria B reaffirmed her commitment to preserving what she described as the “Islamic family system” in Pakistan. She vowed to continue speaking out against social and cultural practices that she believes threaten traditional family values and the moral structure of society.
“I will always speak about Islam and work to protect the future of our children,” she stated. According to Maria, her advocacy is rooted in her religious and cultural beliefs, which prioritize the preservation of family integrity and Islamic principles.
Her remarks come in the wake of increasing online debate about family structures, education policies, and gender rights in Pakistan. Maria B has previously been vocal on social issues, often using her social media platforms to express views aligned with conservative interpretations of Islam.
Public Reaction and Ongoing Debate
While some have supported Maria’s stance as a defence of traditional values, others have criticized her for promoting what they view as regressive ideologies. Nevertheless, Maria maintains that her position stems from a concern for Pakistan’s cultural fabric and the spiritual well-being of future generations.
The fashion designer, whose brand is one of Pakistan’s most prominent, is no stranger to controversy. She remains firm in her position, stating that criticism or legal threats will not silence her efforts.
