Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has called for a ceasefire in Gaza, following an incident in which Israel targeted a convoy of ambulances leaving Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), she emphasized that children and schools should never be targets, as this is a matter of international law.
The World Health Organisation director general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed shock at reports of attacks on ambulances evacuating patients near the hospital.
The Israeli military confirmed that it had targeted an ambulance outside Gaza’s largest hospital, asserting that it was being used by Hamas militants, while health officials claimed it was transporting the wounded.
Malala reiterated her call for a ceasefire and urged the Israeli government to cease such attacks that have resulted in the loss of lives among Palestinian children and families. After the strike, an AFP journalist observed a child being carried away, and a dead horse tied to a cart beside a blood-splattered Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance.
The Israeli military stated that it had launched an airstrike on an ambulance it identified as being used by a Hamas terrorist cell in close proximity to their position in the battle zone, resulting in the deaths of several Hamas terrorist operatives.
