As anticipation builds around the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, a fresh update has reignited excitement — but not about the new movie. Instead, it’s the original 2006 cult classic that’s back in the spotlight, now officially available to stream on Hulu, as reported by Collider.
The film, which has enjoyed renewed popularity through viral clips and memes over the years, is hailed as one of the most iconic fashion-centered dramas in modern cinema. Its synopsis on Hulu reads:
“An aspiring journalist, Andy (Anne Hathaway), who has no idea what she’s getting into while taking up an assisting job for New York’s biggest magazine editor, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). Andy quickly finds herself at the mercy of her diabolical editor and the power play of the fashion industry.”
Sequel in the Works, Cast Interest Renewed
While Hulu users can now revisit the original, work on the long-awaited sequel is quietly moving forward. Set for a 2026 release, the film is expected to bring back much of the original cast, though official confirmations are still pending.
Emily Blunt, who played the sharp-tongued Emily Charlton, has shown mixed feelings about a sequel over the years. In a 2018 interview, she expressed caution, saying,
“If everyone did it, I would be up for it. I almost hope it doesn’t [happen], because sometimes when you sequel everything, it kind of dilutes how special the original is.”
However, she later clarified her enthusiasm on The View, saying she’d return “in a heartbeat” just to work with the original cast again.
A Returning Cast of Fashion Icons
Alongside Blunt and Hathaway, other returning cast members are expected to include Stanley Tucci (Nigel), Simon Baker (Christian), Adrian Grenier (Nate), and supporting stars like Gisele Bündchen (Serena), Tracie Thoms (Lily), and Daniel Sunjata (James Holt).
While plot details for the sequel remain under wraps, fans can now relive the drama and glamour of the original film in preparation for what promises to be a nostalgic and stylish comeback.
