LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced a major decision for overseas Pakistanis’ property in Punjab. The government has approved the formation of Special Courts for Expatriates’ property. The courts are being established under the Punjab Special Courts (Overseas Pakistani Property) Act 2025. The decision, made in consultation with the Lahore High Court Chief Justice, aims to ensure swift and transparent justice in property-related disputes involving overseas Pakistanis.
Judges Appointed Across All Districts
According to an official notification by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), district and additional district & sessions judges have been appointed as special court judges in all 37 districts of Punjab. These courts will exclusively hear cases concerning property ownership, illegal possession, and land disputes, providing overseas citizens with direct legal recourse.
Punjab Government Commended for Landmark Initiative
Barrister Amjad Malik, Vice Chairperson of the Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab, praised the initiative as a strong reflection of the governmentโs commitment to protecting the legal and civic rights of overseas Pakistanis. He said the step would help expedite pending cases, prevent land grabbing, and enhance foreign investor confidence in the province.
Malik added that overseas Pakistanis play a vital role in national development and deserve full protection of their assets and rights.
Moreover, the Punjab government has also incorporated the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025. All land grabing cases would have to be resolved within 90 days under this law.

27th Amendment Clears Senate, Moves to National Assembly
The Senate passed the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill on Monday with a two-thirds majority, aiming to restructure Pakistanโs military and judicial systems. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar presented the 59-clause bill, securing 64 votes in the 96-member House. Opposition lawmakers boycotted the session and staged protests during the vote. On Tuesday, the Law Minister presented the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill in the National Assembly for approval.
NA debates 27th Amendment
The National Assembly has started a heated debate on theย 27th Constitutional Amendment,ย introduced in the House on Tuesday. Law Minister Azam Tarrar presented the amendment in the Parliament, a day after Senate approved it.
PTI leader Barrister Gohar said that โit was Baku Amendmentโ. He pointed out that Prime Minister was sitting in Baku and he was giving orders from there for the approval of the amendment.
