Renowned Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has addressed the controversy surrounding her removal from promotional posters of the Bollywood film Raees, in which she starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Speaking candidly during a recent promotional interview for her upcoming film Love Guru alongside Humayun Saeed, Mahira responded with grace and humor to the issue.
The incident occurred after India enforced a ban on Pakistani actors and content creators, leading to the exclusion of Pakistani artists’ names and images from film posters and other promotional material. Mahira’s photo was notably absent from updated Raees posters—an act that drew attention across both sides of the border.
Commenting on the matter, Mahira said, “I didn’t feel bad about it, even for a second. I actually laughed about it. It was a very small thing to do, a silly thing to do.” Her remarks reflected a mature and composed outlook, emphasizing that the decision did not affect her emotionally.
Her Love Guru co-star, veteran actor Humayun Saeed, supported her view, calling the move “a very petty thing to do,” further highlighting how such decisions serve little purpose and only promote negativity.
Instead of dwelling on the episode, Mahira shifted the focus to the achievements and vibrancy of the Pakistani entertainment industry. “We have so much to celebrate about Pakistani entertainment,” she remarked, underlining the creative energy, talent, and resilience of the country’s artists.
Mahira’s response has been praised by fans and industry colleagues for its dignity and poise. Her ability to rise above the situation and turn the spotlight on local talent exemplifies her leadership in Pakistan’s entertainment scene.
The interview also helped generate buzz for Love Guru, her new project with Humayun Saeed, expected to draw significant attention upon its release.
