Pakistani actress Mahira Khan was subjected to harassment during a promotional appearance for her upcoming film Love Guru at the Indo-Pak Supermarket in Ilford, London. The event, also attended by co-star Humayun Saeed, descended into chaos as large crowds overwhelmed the limited security measures in place.
According to eyewitnesses, the situation turned distressing for Mahira when some unruly attendees behaved inappropriately as she entered the store and again later when she moved to the rooftop terrace—a scheduled part of the event during which she and Saeed were to greet fans.
Videos circulating on social media show the actors waving from the rooftop, with at least three individuals aggressively approaching Mahira in an environment that appeared to lack adequate crowd control.
Allegations have also emerged that a member of the event’s security team was involved in the misconduct. “The moment she entered the store, one of the guards turned on her,” a source told local media, adding that the actress appeared visibly shaken and reluctant to proceed with the event.
Tensions were further heightened by the display of Indian flags at the venue—an element that sparked discomfort among some attendees, given the often sensitive nature of India-Pakistan relations.
Despite these issues, the event continued as planned.
Compounding the controversy, sources claim that Mahira was promised £5,000 for her appearance but was not paid, leading to further friction between the actress and the event organizers. She is said to have expressed frustration over both the broken financial agreement and the failure to ensure her safety.
The episode has triggered widespread backlash on social media, with fans condemning the mismanagement and calling for accountability.
Love Guru, starring Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 6.
