The US-Israel war against Iran entered its sixth week on Friday with fresh missile exchanges and growing international concern over the conflictโs widening impact.
Key Developments
The IRGC in Iran was responsible for attacks on various targets. These included locations connected to America in the UAE and Bahrain, along with Israeli weapons factories. Additionally, they said that they attacked an Oracle data center in Dubai.
Missiles were allegedly shot down by Israel from Iran. However, there have been no casualties or damages reported so far.
The air defenses of Kuwait intercepted missiles and drones directed at them.
The Yemeni Houthi rebels stated that they carried out their fourth attack on Israel. This involved a missile targeting Tel Aviv.
An object hit central Israel. At the same time, cluster munitions were dropped in parts of Israel. These attacks left at least 10 people injured.
Casualties and Damage
Casualties caused by a recent attack on a bridge in Karaj province (Alborz) increased to eight deaths. A total of 95 people were injured. This attack was aimed at a strategic infrastructure project.
International Reactions
More than 100 international law specialists from America wrote an open letter. They highlighted how American strikes on Iran could constitute breaches of international law. They also warned that such actions could potentially amount to war crimes.
The UN secretary-general called on the United States and Israel to stop the fighting. He also urged Iran to cease launching attacks against its neighbors. He warned that the situation could escalate into a regional war.
The EU foreign affairs representative stressed the importance of securing passageways for trade. They also emphasized the need to facilitate humanitarian corridors through the Strait of Hormuz.
Economic Impact
The protracted war is still affecting the global supply of oil. There have been sharp rises in fuel prices in Pakistan and elsewhere. Reports indicate that queues are forming outside petrol stations in Islamabad.
This is still an ongoing process, with each side threatening and launching attacks against one another. All attempts at diplomacy, including mediation through Pakistan, have thus far proven ineffective.
