Lexar has unveiled the JumpDrive D500, a high-speed solid-state USB drive featuring both USB Type-A and USB Type-C connectors. The company designed the device for users who need fast, portable storage compatible with smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.
The JumpDrive D500 uses the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface and comes in four capacities: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. According to Lexar, the drive delivers maximum read speeds of up to 400MB per second and write speeds of up to 400MB per second.
Performance varies slightly by model. The 128GB and 256GB versions offer read speeds of 400MB/s and write speeds of 360MB/s. Meanwhile, the 512GB model achieves 400MB/s for both read and write operations. The 1TB variant provides read speeds of up to 390MB/s and write speeds of 400MB/s.
Compact Metal Design With Mobile Backup Support
Lexar has equipped the drive with a compact swivel design built from aluminum alloy. The housing rotates 360 degrees and includes a lanyard loop for easier portability. Additionally, the company states that the device operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 50°C, ensuring reliability during daily use.
The JumpDrive D500 also supports Lexar’s mobile app, available on Android, iOS, and HarmonyOS. The app enables automatic offline backup of photos and videos and supports Live Photo backup on iPhones. However, it does not support iCloud backups or HarmonyOS Next devices.
Thanks to its dual-connector setup, users can transfer files between devices without adapters. Lexar claims the 1TB model can store over 300,000 photos, 18,000 minutes of HD video, or more than 110,000 songs. The drive carries a five-year limited warranty and will roll out globally through retail and online stores.
