DiCaprio Reflects on Career Choices and Industry Pace
Leonardo DiCaprio, now 50, says he no longer operates at the “frenetic pace” that once defined his early career. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the Oscar-winning actor opened up about how his relationship with fame and work has evolved over the years.
“When I was younger, it felt like hitting the lottery,” DiCaprio shared. “I couldn’t believe I was part of the industry, making my own decisions. But there was always this fast pace.”
Now, the Titanic star admits he’s more measured in his approach. “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more… not just selective, but thoughtful. So many things need to align to make a film work—and to make it last,” he explained.
While he remains grateful for every opportunity, DiCaprio stressed that he prioritises projects that feel meaningful and creatively fulfilling.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson Highlights the Value of Collaboration
Paul Thomas Anderson, who directed DiCaprio in One Battle After Another, also joined the conversation. He echoed similar sentiments about the shift in what drives creative passion as careers mature.
“For me, the thing that brings joy now is the camaraderie and collaboration on set,” Anderson said. “When you’re younger, it feels like you’ve won the lottery. But with time, it’s the work itself and the shared experiences that matter most.”
He added that the excitement hasn’t faded—but the meaning behind the work has deepened. “That’s what gets me out of bed now,” Anderson said.
