A new scandal has emerged within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the Swabi public gathering, following the leak of an audio recording that exposes party leaders’ false claims about the event. The leaked audio reveals shocking details about how 90% of PTI officials misrepresented key information surrounding the rally.
The recording features Junaid Akbar, a provincial PTI official, who disclosed that he possesses detailed reports containing specific information about individuals involved in the event. Akbar named MPs, MNAs, and other officials who misreported facts, emphasizing that he knew exactly who made which claims.
In the audio, Akbar expresses his frustration and disappointment, saying that those responsible for spreading false information should be ashamed of themselves. He revealed that he would forward these reports to party founder Imran Khan, and he even knew personal details, such as what some attendees wore at the rally.
Further exposing the situation, Akbar stated that some party officials had sent him videos from events in Islamabad and other programs, which he criticized as naïve behavior. He made it clear that he would not support anyone who spread lies, regardless of their position in PTI.
Akbar also revealed his lack of interest in holding a position within the party, stating that being in a leadership role was neither a necessity nor an obligation for him. He even mentioned that he would be relieved if his responsibilities were taken away.
The leaked audio also sheds light on internal divisions within PTI, with Akbar expressing concern over the rise of factions and the wrong people receiving support. He firmly declared that he would only back those who are genuinely committed to the party’s true cause. “If I cannot stand by my principles, I will leave my position. One person cannot expel ten others or make such decisions. Only those who work for the party will succeed. I will support such people,” Akbar concluded.
The PTI’s internal conflict has deepened, as Junaid Akbar exposes the misleading claims and reaffirms his dedication to supporting only those who align with the party’s values.
