Punjab to Experience Rainfall Till September 4

Light rain has touched various parts of Lahore, including Gulberg, Jail Road, Canal Road, and Ferozepur Road, offering relief from the recent heatwave. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) predicts additional rain across most areas of Punjab in the next 24 hours.

A PDMA spokesperson has indicated that the monsoon rains are expected to continue until September 4. Anticipated rainfall will affect cities such as Lahore, Kasur, Narowal, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, and Jhang, as well as Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Khushab, Sargodha, and Mianwali.

Southern Punjab districts like Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Layyah, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan are also expected to experience intermittent rain. The PDMA has reported that water levels in rivers and canals across Punjab are normal, and hill torrents in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan are stable.

Currently, Mangla Dam is at 79% capacity, while Tarbela Dam is at full capacity. PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia assured that there is no immediate risk of flooding in Punjab’s rivers, and all relevant agencies are on high alert.

In Islamabad and surrounding areas, partly cloudy skies are forecasted with a chance of rain in the evening or night. Heavy rainfall is expected in the Potohar region later in the day, and rain is also anticipated in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Khushab, Sargodha, and Mianwali.

Most districts in Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan are expected to remain hot and dry, although some areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Buner, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, and Peshawar, may see rain.

Rain is also likely in Balochistan, with Zhob, Musakhel, Shirani, Barkhan, Loralai, Kohlu, Sibbi, Quetta, Chaman, Qila Saifullah, Pishin, and Ziarat on alert. In Sindh, areas like Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, and Mirpur Khas could experience rainfall as well.
