LAHORE: Three people were killed and many injured in a bomb blast near the prize bond dealer’s shop in Lahore’s New Anarkali/Lohari Gate area this afternoon. Ten of the injured people are in critical condition.
Police officials believe that the blast can be the result of a time-device fixed with a motorcycle which exploded, killing three on the spot.
Rescue teams have reached the site and injured persons were shifted to the Mayo Hospital emergency ward.
“It was a bomb blast,” DIG Police-Operations Lahore Dr. Abid said. “The explosives were planted in a motorbike,” he said.
Lahore SP and other police officers rushed to the spot while the bomb disposal squad was inspecting the site of blast. The site has been sealed and evidence is being collected.
So far, 20 injured people have been moved to the Mayo Hospital, where an emergency has been imposed. Police have reached the hospital and cordoned it off.
Only rescue officials are being allowed inside the emergency room. According to the medical superintendent, 10 patients are in critical condition and have been moved to the ICU and their surgeries are underway to save their lives.
