Three Afghan women were apprehended at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport while attempting to travel to Germany using forged documents, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) reported.
The suspects, identified as Aziza Mohammadi, Mehria Rehmani, and Zahra Sultani, were found with counterfeit medical and business documents. A case has been registered, and they have been handed over to the FIA’s anti-human trafficking wing for further investigation.
Aziza Mohammadi entered Pakistan on a medical visa, claiming to have undergone treatment at a hospital in Islamabad from April 27 to May 20, 2024. However, an investigation revealed that she never visited Pakistan after obtaining her passport.
Mehria Rehmani arrived on a business visa, claiming to be on a business trip with her husband, Iqbal Hakimi. During interrogation, she denied being married or knowing anyone by that name, raising further suspicions about her visa documentation.
Zahra Sultani, who arrived on September 2, stated she was accompanying a patient, Marman Parveen, as an attendant. However, subsequent investigations revealed that Zahra had secured her Pakistani visa under false pretenses, raising further questions about her true intentions.
This incident comes in the wake of the FIA’s recent crackdown on illegal immigration, following the arrest of nine other foreign nationals at Karachi airport attempting to use fake documents for travel. The FIA is ramping up efforts to curb the growing trend of forged documents being used for illegal immigration from Pakistan.
