ISLAMABAD: The mystery of the identity of a girl found on a roadside with her feet and hands tied with ropes has been resolved. Initially the girl claimed to be a foreign national, however, police have identified her as Farwa Kayani, a resident of Rawalpindi.
Authorities are currently investigating the reasons behind her initial claim of being a Belgian national. She speaks fluent English and Urdu.
The incident took place two days ago when the 28-year-old girl was discovered in Sector G-6 of Islamabad with her feet and hands tied with ropes. Concerns were raised about the possibility of sexual assault.
Initially, the police struggled to identify the woman and determine her nationality but were unsuccessful.
According to police officials, they received information about a woman abandoned by the roadside in Sector G-6.
The woman introduced herself as a Belgian citizen, claiming she had arrived in Islamabad six months earlier. She alleged that she had been living with a man who had repeatedly raped her.
The police took her to the hospital for medical assistance and tried to obtain a statement, but they were unable to do so. They contacted the Belgian embassy, which had no record of the woman, and reached out to the Netherlands mission but found no relevant information.
The woman was unable to provide identification, as she had no belongings with her. The police then visited a residence in Sector G-7 where she had reportedly been staying.
The police have stated that the woman is currently undergoing a medical examination at the hospital. She is fluent in English and Urdu and is in good mental health.
