In a major breakthrough against terrorism, notorious terrorist commander Shah Faisal was successfully neutralized during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Darel area of Diamer, Gilgit-Baltistan. The operation, carried out to apprehend those responsible for a recent terrorist attack on a passenger bus along the Karakoram Highway, resulted in Shah Faisal’s demise.
The GB government’s spokesperson, Faizullah Faraq, confirmed that the operation also led to injuries among four scouts of the GB forces, highlighting the risks and challenges faced in combating extremist elements.
Shah Faisal had been implicated in a brutal attack last December on a bus in Chilas, which tragically claimed eight lives and left 26 others injured. The assailants opened fire on a Rawalpindi-bound bus from Ghizer, causing a fatal collision with a truck.
Deputy Commissioner Diamer, Captain (Rtd) Arif Ahmad, provided details of the attack, describing the chaotic aftermath and the immediate impact on the affected community. The swift action taken in the Darel operation represents a significant advancement in addressing terrorism threats in the region, marking a decisive victory in ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The elimination of Shah Faisal, known for orchestrating such violent acts, underscores the dedication of security forces to safeguarding civilian lives and restoring stability. The GB government continues to prioritize counterterrorism measures, aiming to prevent future tragedies and uphold safety along critical transportation routes.
The successful conclusion of the operation reflects a coordinated effort between security agencies and underscores their commitment to rooting out terrorism from the region. As investigations continue into Shah Faisal’s network, authorities remain vigilant against any potential retaliatory actions, reaffirming their resolve to protect the people of Gilgit-Baltistan from extremist violence.
