Swat Authorities Issue Safety Alert Amid Terrorism Threat Concerns

In response to rising concerns over potential terrorism threats, the deputy commissioner of Swat has issued an alert urging the postponement of all public gatherings to prioritize public safety. This precautionary measure is particularly focused on a planned peace march organized by the Swat Qaumi Jirga, set to take place after Jummah prayers.

Despite the warning, the Swat Qaumi Jirga has announced that it will move forward with the march, emphasizing that the region will not be allowed to fall prey to “artificial terrorism.” The jirga has stressed its commitment to safeguarding peace in the region, rejecting any attempts to disturb the area’s stability.

The peace march is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Nishat Chowk in Mingora, where local authorities have put extraordinary security measures in place to protect participants. The local police have intensified their efforts, ensuring that all necessary precautions are taken to maintain order during the event.

Support for the march has grown, with prominent political parties, legal professionals, the business community, and civil society groups confirming their participation. These groups have rallied behind the Swat Qaumi Jirga, calling for peace and unity at a time of heightened tension.

Despite the terrorism threat alert, the Swat Qaumi Jirga has firmly rejected the deputy commissioner’s warnings and remains determined to carry out the peace march. Community leaders continue to advocate for harmony, urging citizens to stand united in the face of any disruptions.

The situation in Swat remains closely monitored as preparations for the march continue, with security forces on high alert to ensure the safety of the public.
