‘Sikhs For Justice’ Condemns Assassination Attempt on Trump, Equates Shooter’s Mindset with Modi’s Political Repression

The US-based rights group “Sikhs For Justice” has denounced the recent assassination attempt on President Trump, comparing the mindset of the shooter to that of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, they claim, boasts about eliminating political opponents both domestically and internationally.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, General Counsel to Sikhs For Justice, stated, “We, the pro-Khalistan Sikhs advocating for a Referendum on Punjab’s independence from Indian control, condemn the attempt on President Trump’s life.”

“There is no place for political violence in a democracy. Political differences should always be resolved through voting, not violence,” Pannun added.

He drew parallels between President Trump’s shooter and the Modi government, accusing the latter of assassinating Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada and attempting “Murder For Hire” in New York to silence the Khalistan Referendum movement.

Instead of supporting the democratic campaign of the Khalistan Referendum, which aims to resolve the political issue through the ballot, the Indian Government, according to Pannun, employs political violence and transnational repression against pro-Khalistan Sikhs in Canada and the USA.

“We hope that in the wake of this heinous political violence against President Trump, the American administration will take a stronger stance against the use of political violence by both domestic and foreign entities, such as India’s transnational repression against pro-Khalistan Sikhs in the USA,” Pannun concluded.
