CHARSADDA/ISLAMABAD: In a bold robbery on the Motorway near Charsadda, three robbers targeted a Pakistani-American family traveling from Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to Islamabad in the early hours of Sunday, June 16, according to local police.
The robbers used the “tyre blaster” — a device designed to flatten tyres — to halt the family’s vehicle. They then held the family at gunpoint, looted three iPhones, Rs 58,000 in cash, and two tolas of gold from them and vanished.
The family was visiting Pakistan to celebrate Eid ul Adha with relatives.
Meanwhile, KP Police have formed a special investigation team, led by SP Investigation Charsadda, to probe the robbery incident and capture the culprits.
Six suspects have been detained for questioning, and geo-fencing of the crime scene has been conducted. Details of gangs involved in the robbery have been retrieved from records, police said.
Regional Police Officer Mardan Zahoor Babar Afridi said that the suspects fled on foot after the robbery. He assured that the culprits would be apprehended soon, according to the media reports.
Afridi emphasized that the Pakistani-American family were guests in Pakistan, and efforts were underway to trace the perpetrators and ensure justice.
