The Election Commission of Pakistan has started the process of removing Imran Khan as the party chief after he was found guilty in the Toshakhana case. However, Khan has challenged in the Lahore High Court his removal as party chairman.
Last week, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted two weeks of interim bail to former prime minister Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.
The court, nonetheless, ordered Imran Khan to be a part of the investigation in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.
The IHC single bench Mian Gul Hassan directed authorities not to arrest Imran Khan in any case registered after May 9.
NAB summons Imran Khan in Al-Qadir case on Thursday
The National Accountability Bureau has summoned PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan to probe into the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case on Thursday (Tomorrow/May 18).
The Rawalpindi regional office of NAB has summoned Imran Khan in this case.
According to the NAB notice, the Bureau sought details of the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) 2019 probe into assets involving £190 million from Imran Khan.
The Bureau has ordered Khan to bring with him details regarding the NCA investigation and other documents concerning Al-Qadir University. The required information includes land papers, trust deeds, and bank statements.
The British government uncovered a £140 million illegal amount in 2018-19 in an account owned by a renowned Pakistani real estate tycoon’s son and his wife.
Meanwhile, the NCA swiftly froze the funds and repatriated money to the Pakistani government when PTI was ruling the country and Imran Khan was the prime minister.
Instead of confiscating the amount, the PTI government returned it to a real estate tycoon (Bahria Town), and Khan and Bushra Bibi got hundreds of acres of land and ornaments from Malik Riaz and his family.
