LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister of Punjab Syed Mohsin Naqvi today formed a two-member committee to probe the PTI’s allegations about the mistreatment of its female supporters in prisons.

The two-member committee comprising Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider and Senior Superintendent of Police Investigation Anoosh Masood will visit the Kot Lakhpat jail for fact-finding after meeting the women prisoners.

However, a day earlier Interior Minister claimed that the intelligence agencies have detected a conversation between PTI men. He said the conversation was about a conspiracy to blame police and jail authorities for the rape and torture of women in prisons.

After the May 9 attacks, thousands of PTI workers have been arrested, including some women.

Chief Minister Punjab said that police teams have arrested a total of 32 PTI women out of which only 11 of them were in jail now.

He said, “It is his government’s duty to ensure that “mothers and sisters remain safe”.

Imran Khan urges Chief Justice to order probe

Former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan urged the chief justice of Pakistan to order a probe into the mistreatment of PTI women in prisons.
