Punjab Government Enhances Security Measures for Independent Chinese Nationals

The Punjab government has initiated an extensive review of Chinese nationals entering Pakistan independently, aiming to enhance security measures for Chinese residents. Officials have established a specialized Chinese Security Intelligence Unit within the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to oversee and improve security protocols.

It has been observed that many independent Chinese residents do not use mobile applications, a concern communicated to Chinese authorities, leading to the need for alternative monitoring and security measures.

“High-level apex meetings have prioritized the security of Chinese residents,” revealed sources from the Punjab Home Department. Chinese authorities have been informed about the security arrangements for their citizens residing independently in Pakistan.

To streamline security monitoring, the Home Department plans to enforce the use of a designated mobile application for Chinese residents, facilitating better oversight and ensuring quick response capabilities in emergencies.

Additionally, the number of bomb-proof vehicles has been increased to 50 across both China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and non-CPEC projects. A dedicated pool of bomb-proof vehicles has also been established at the Services & General Administration Department (S&GAD) to support operational needs and emergency situations.

These measures are part of ongoing efforts by Pakistani authorities to strengthen bilateral security cooperation and protect the interests of Chinese nationals residing and working in Pakistan. The Punjab government remains committed to maintaining a secure environment that fosters mutual collaboration and development initiatives between Pakistan and China.
