ISLAMABAD: Upon his arrival at the President House on Monday, newly-elected President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, was accorded a guard of honor, marking the ceremonial welcome.
Following the guard of honor, Zardari exchanged greetings with the staff of the President House. Notably, he arrived at the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage.
Speculations arose on Sunday suggesting that Aseefa Bhutto Zardari is poised to assume the role of the next first lady of Pakistan. Asif Ali Zardari, who assumed the presidency on Sunday, is expected to formally declare Aseefa as the first lady in the near future.
Aseefa, aged 31, is the youngest among Zardari’s three children with former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
A recent post from the Pakistan Peoples Party’s social media handle hinted at this development, featuring a photo from Zardari’s oath-taking ceremony with the caption “First lady with the president.” The image depicted Aseefa, attired in green with a white scarf reminiscent of her mother’s style, walking arm in arm with her father.
While no official notification has been issued yet according to sources from Aaj News, the decision is expected to be formalized soon.
Aseefa is often seen accompanying her father, notably during his court hearings, emphasizing her close relationship with him.
