QUETTA: On Friday, a devastating explosion rocked the Chamrok area of Khuzdar city in Balochistan, claiming the life of one person.
The deceased, identified as Maulana Muhammad Siddique Mengal, served as the president of the Khuzdar Press Club. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers faced by journalists and media personnel in conflict-prone regions.
Police reports indicate that nine others, including a policeman, were injured in the blast, exacerbating the severity of the situation. The injured were promptly transferred to Khuzdar Teaching Hospital.
Maulana Mengal, also the provincial deputy emir of the JUI-F, was en route to the mosque for Friday prayers when his car was hit by a magnet bomb in the Chamrok area. This is not the first time Mengal has been targeted, as per police sources.
CCTV footage of the incident shows terrorists planting a magnet bomb on the victim’s car, followed by an explosion as the terrorist moves away from the vehicle.
The exact cause and nature of the explosion are under investigation. Maulana Muhammad Siddique Mengal was esteemed for his dedication to journalism and active participation in the local press community.
The injured individuals have been taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while law enforcement agencies are diligently working to gather evidence and apprehend the perpetrators of this attack.
