Surprise
As the February 8 election approaches, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) declares plans to unveil a strategic “surprise,” stirring anticipation in the political landscape. PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence in the party’s ability to lead Pakistan forward under the guidance of Nawaz Sharif during a press briefing in Lahore.
Amid heightened electioneering activities, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the people would determine Pakistan’s fate on February 8, asserting their commitment to advancing the country. The return of Nawaz Sharif after nearly four years of exile is seen as a significant boost for the party, especially considering the perceived shortcomings during the 16-month coalition government led by Shehbaz.
Despite maintaining a low-key election campaign, the PML-N has intensified its efforts, holding corner meetings, giving interviews, and presenting its narrative to the media. The party has fielded 208 candidates for the 266 National Assembly seats and issued a total of 671 tickets for the 859 seats across five legislatures.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence in securing sufficient seats for the PML-N to form the government at the center, with Nawaz Sharif eyeing a potential fourth term as prime minister. Senior PML-N leader Ishaq Dar anticipates winning more than two-thirds of the National Assembly seats and encourages collaboration with other parties to address the country’s challenges.
Discussing Pakistan’s economic recovery, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the exceptional growth witnessed under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership. He pledged that Nawaz Sharif would work tirelessly to restore those prosperous days, emphasizing the importance of consultation for the nation’s progress. Shehbaz also criticized the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), blaming them for economic setbacks and strained international relations.
As the election fervor intensifies, the PML-N positions itself as a contender for steering Pakistan toward stability and economic recovery, teasing a “surprise” that adds an element of intrigue to the upcoming polls.
