SUKKUR/ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today announced Rs15 billion grant for Sindh province during his visit of flood-affected areas in Sukkur region in Sindh along with political leaders and government officials.
PM Shehbaz reached Sukkur in Sindh on Friday and reviewed the ongoing relief and rescue activities in the flood-affected area of Sukkur region. The Premier asked the Sindh government and the National Disaster Management Authority to pace up relief work to support the needy people.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari along with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah welcomed PM Shehbaz in Sukkur.
Before landing at Sukkur airport, Shehbaz Sharif took an aerial view of the devastation caused by the recent rains and floods while Chairman NDMA gave a briefing to PM about ongoing relief efforts and damage to infrastructure and calamities, etc.
Earlier, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb had announced that PM Shehbaz will be visiting various flood-affected regions of Sukkur in Sindh during his trip, including Rohri, Khairpur, Faizganj, Kot Diji and Thari Mir Wah.
She also said that the Prime Minister would meet with flood affected people and look at the arrangements for them along with their rehabilitation.
Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah told media this week that the floods have devastated one million homes, displaced countless people in the province, and destroyed crops.
