KARACHI: People in Karachi got hold of three dacoits and thrashed them publicly. It shows people’s frustration against the rising crimes in the mega city of Pakistan. The incidence of street crime in Karachi continues to rise, with no significant reduction in sight.
According to eye-witnesses, in Gulberg, the public apprehended three suspected dacoits. The enraged people gave the dacoits a severe thrashing. The accused were almost killed at the hands of the public. Later on, police took the custody of the dacoits and registered a case against them.
Meanwhile, in recent incidents, two people were injured in Korangi and Surjani due to gunfire from robbers. In Gulberg, three suspected robbers were apprehended by the public. The enraged crowd severely beat the suspects, nearly resulting in their deaths.
In Landhi, the police thwarted an attempted robbery on a woman. During the exchange of fire, one of the robbers was injured.
Meanwhile, the police arrested three key members of a rickshaw gang in the Jamsheed Quarters area. According to authorities, the suspects used to rob citizens after luring them into their rickshaw. On July 10, the gang reportedly stole Rs 37,000 from a citizen.
During the operation, the police recovered weapons and stolen goods from the suspects. Further investigations are ongoing.
In response to these incidents, the public has called on senior police officials to develop a comprehensive strategy to combat street crime, emphasizing the need to restore a sense of security so that citizens can live without fear.
Despite efforts, street criminals continue to operate freely in many parts of Karachi. Armed with firearms, they brazenly target and rob citizens wherever they can.
