The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has scheduled the hearing for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) contempt plea on the matter of a level playing field on January 3 (Wednesday).
A three-member bench from the Supreme Court will oversee the proceedings regarding PTI’s petition on the level-playing field.
During a previous session, the PTI lawyer presented the case before CJP Qazi Faez Isa, stating, “The court had instructed us to establish a level playing field, and we have filed a contempt of court plea.”
The Chief Justice remarked, “We will resume the hearing after the break.”
However, upon the resumption of the hearing, the PTI lawyer did not appear before the court.
The apex court had earlier decided to set the date for PTI’s plea on the level playing field for January 3 (Wednesday).
In recent days, the PTI lodged a contempt of court petition in the Supreme Court, citing non-compliance with orders related to ensuring a level playing field for the party.
The petition urges the Supreme Court to enforce its orders from December 22 and issue directives against the arrest and harassment of PTI candidates.
It highlights that despite court orders, PTI candidates are being obstructed from submitting their nomination papers for the upcoming general elections.
The petition reveals that multiple letters were sent to the provincial election commissioner, but no action has been taken.
The document emphasizes the need for strict action against those violating the court order.
