Pakistan seeks action against TTP’s safe havens in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged immediate action against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), emphasizing their operations from their safe havens within Afghanistan.

FO representative Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stressed the Afghan government’s role in addressing the TTP’s activities, expressing concern about ongoing terrorist acts from Afghanistan into Pakistan.

Calling for an end to TTP shelters in Afghanistan, she acknowledged Afghan government efforts while highlighting the necessity of halting TTP activities within the country.

Regarding security negotiations with the Afghan transit administration, discussions are currently underway, she added.

Updating on recent policy changes, Baloch mentioned Pakistan’s new travel policy effective from November 1, mandating valid documentation, including a visa for Afghan truck drivers crossing the border, facilitated by the Pakistani embassy in Kabul.

Addressing the situation in Gaza, the spokesperson condemned the ongoing violence and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for a Free Palestinian State, particularly denouncing Israel’s actions against Gazan children.

Baloch also raised concerns about the halal meat ban in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, terming it as Islamophobic and anti-minority, signaling a troubling decline in tolerance for Muslims in India.

In other news, caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar is set to attend the World Climate Summit COP28 in Dubai starting on December 1 and concluding on December 14.

Ms Baloch highlighted PM Kakar’s engagement in crucial bilateral meetings during his visit to the UAE.
