PIA Offices to Close for Three Days

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced on Saturday that its offices in Islamabad will be closed from October 14 to 16. This decision is part of security measures in anticipation of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

According to the circular issued by PIA, employees working shifts at the airport will continue their duties during this period. In addition, access to the Red Zone area in Islamabad has been restricted for the general public to ensure security during the conference.

Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan also declared a three-day closure from October 14 to 16 in connection with the SCO summit. This decision, made under Supreme Court rules, follows an official notification from the Cabinet Division. The closure will specifically affect the Supreme Court’s principal seat in Islamabad, while all provincial registries will remain operational.

It is important to note that the SCO Summit is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on October 15 and 16. In preparation for the event, section 144 is currently in effect in Rawalpindi and Islamabad from October 12 to 17, further ensuring public safety during the conference.
