NAB summons Imran Khan tomorrow in Rawalpindi to probe Al-Qadir Trust corruption case

NAB summons Imran Khan tomorrow in Rawalpindi to probe Al-Qadir Trust corruption case

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau has summoned PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan to probe into the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case on Thursday (Tomorrow/May 18).

The Rawalpindi regional office of NAB has summoned Imran Khan in this case.

According to the NAB notice, the Bureau sought details of the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) 2019 probe into assets involving £190 million from Imran Khan.

The Bureau has ordered Khan to bring with him details regarding the NCA investigation and other documents concerning Al-Qadir University. The required information includes land papers, trust deeds, and bank statements.

The British government uncovered a £140 million illegal amount in 2018-19 in an account owned by a renowned Pakistani real estate tycoon’s son and his wife.

Meanwhile, the NCA swiftly froze the funds and repatriated money to the Pakistani government when PTI was ruling the country and Imran Khan was the prime minister.

Instead of confiscating the amount, the PTI government returned it to a real estate tycoon, and Khan and Bushra Bibi got hundreds of acres of land and ornaments from Malik Riaz and his family.

IHC orders Imran Khan to join Al-Qadir Trust case probe

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court ordered former prime minister Imran Khan to join the probe in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case. The IHC gave this order a day after giving multiple bails to PTI chairman Imran Khan on Friday. The court issued its written order in the interim bail petition of Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

The IHC ordered Imran Khan before the investigation officer whenever required in this case.

According to the court order, if Imran Khan obstructs the investigation in the Al-Qadir Trust case, the National Accountability Bureau can seek cancellation of his bail from the court.

According to the IHC order, the advocate general and the additional attorney general said Article 245 of the Constitution is in force, and Imran Khan cannot get relief.

However, the court observed this stance of the advocate general and additional attorney general as aggressive. According to the order of the IHC, this stance means usurping fundamental rights.

Islamabad High Court today granted transitory bail to former prime minister Imran Khan till May 22. The transitory bail will enable Imran Khan to appear in court cases in Lahore.
