On Tuesday, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) announced that it will stage a protest against K-Electric on September 5 (Thursday). The protest will be held outside the K-Electric head office in response to what the party describes as unfair power bills. MQM-P has called on the public to participate in this demonstration to voice their dissatisfaction with the utility company.
In addition to the protest against K-Electric, MQM-P has expressed grave concerns about the deteriorating conditions in Sindh following recent rainfall. The party’s spokesperson noted that the situation in Karachi is increasingly troubling, questioning what might happen if torrential rains were to hit the city. They emphasized that the current moderate rainfall has already worsened the city’s conditions, making travel difficult due to the poor state of the roads.
The MQM-P spokesperson criticized local officials for their apparent disregard for the city’s infrastructure. They argued that the mayor and local representatives seem disengaged from addressing the issues with Karachi’s streets and roads. Instead, they accused the provincial ministers and mayor of misrepresenting Karachi as if it were a world-class city like Paris or London, while enjoying the comfort of their expensive, air-conditioned vehicles.
