Milk Price
HYDERABAD: The district administration of Hyderabad has announced a new milk price in the city following recommendations from the Livestock Department.
According to a notification issued by the administration, the price of milk has been set at Rs 215 per litre, marking an increase of Rs 15 from the previous rate. Additionally, the wholesale price for milk has been established at Rs 200 per litre.
This recent adjustment in milk prices follows a similar move earlier in June, when the Commissioner of Karachi set new milk prices after negotiations with the Dairy Farmers Association.
At that time, the retail price of milk was fixed at Rs 220 per litre, reflecting a Rs 20 increase per litre.
The wholesale price was set at Rs 205 per litre, while the price for dairy farmers was adjusted to Rs 195 per litre.
The rise in milk prices comes amid ongoing demands from dairy farmers for increased prices for dairy products, particularly in light of recent reductions in petroleum product prices.
The price hikes are part of a broader strategy to address the economic challenges faced by dairy farmers and to ensure the sustainability of the dairy industry.
The agreement between the Commissioner of Karachi and the dairy farmers, stipulates that dairy farmers will adhere to the officially fixed prices.
Should they fail to comply, they will face punitive measures. Furthermore, the agreement specifies that milk sellers are not permitted to request further price increases until December 31.
It also mandates that dairy farmers display purchase and sale rates transparently at all levels and ensure the quality of milk from dairy farms to retailers is maintained.
This agreement aims to stabilize milk prices while addressing the concerns of dairy farmers, ensuring fair pricing and maintaining the quality of dairy products in the market.
