Man in Punjab arrested for sexually assaulting 11-year-old niece

Man in Punjab

A man was taken into custody on suspicion of trying to sexually assault his 11-year-old niece in the Mandi Bahauddin district of Punjab, the police reported on Sunday.

As per the initial report of the incident, submitted by the victim’s aunt, the accused tried to sexually assault the victim in a room. When her aunt dispatched someone to search for the child, they heard her cries.

“The FIR noted that the suspect was caught trying to sexually assault the child but ran away when he noticed someone approaching.”

After learning about the incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Ahmad Mohiuddin acted promptly by directing that a case be filed against the suspect for allegedly attempting to rape the young girl and instructed the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) for the Malikwal Circle to prepare a report.

In answer to the complaint, DSP Malikwal Ghulam Jafar deployed police raid teams and set up roadblocks across the region. The police successfully apprehended the suspect.

Police sources report that the victim has identified the suspect. The preliminary medical report she received from a public hospital indicated evidence of an attempted sexual assault.

Additional inquiries, according to the police, were underway.

According to the authorities, two males were taken into custody in Mandi Bahauddin earlier this month for allegedly sexually assaulting a crippled young kid, recording the incident, and posting the footage on social media.

Sexual assaults occur all around the nation even though the country has severe anti-rape laws that carry the possibility of the death sentence or ten to twenty-five years in jail.

According to data gathered by the non-governmental group Sahil, 11 children were assaulted every day in 2023, with friends and family members being the main perpetrators of the horrible deed.

According to the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR), the figures were released in “Cruel Numbers 2023,” a hallmark publication of the non-profit organisation dedicated to children’s wellbeing that was released at the end of February.

Out of the 4,213 cases that were reported overall, the geographical divide statistics indicate that 75% of the cases were from Punjab, 13% from Sindh, 7% from the capital territory of Islamabad, 3% from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and 2% from Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
