LAHORE: The Lahore High Court will take up for hearing today a petition that aims to stop the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.

LHC Judge, Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court will hear the petition. A citizen in Lahore, Namdar Ali has filed the petition, urging court to stop assembly’s dissolution on Friday as per announcement of PTI chief Imran Khan.

The petitioner has named PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the ECP and Punjab Chief Secretary amongst others as parties in the petition.

Petitioner Namdar pleaded that dissolving the provincial assembly on the order of PTI chief Imran Khan was a violation of the constitution.

Namdar claimed that only Imran Khan stands to benefit from the Punjab Assembly’s dissolution.

In his petition, petitioner Namdar argued that current economic situation of the country was not suitable for an election right now.

Therefore, he urged the court to stop the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.
