Khawar Maneka, the former husband of Bushra Bibi, the ex-first lady of Pakistan, filed a petition against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi regarding his alleged “un-Islamic” marriage.
In the petition, Maneka reiterated claims made in a recent TV interview and leveled serious allegations against Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and Bushra Bibiโs sisters, particularly mentioning Maryam.
Maneka alleged that Maryam had a “strong connection with the Jewish lobby” and accused Imran Khan of forming illicit relations with Bushra before their alleged marriage, claiming that this occurred when Imran Khan and Zulfi Bukhari frequented Maneka’s home in his absence “prior to their so-called nikah.”
According to Maneka, he divorced Bushra Bibi “half-heartedly” with the expectation of reconciliation through his mother’s intervention before the end of the iddat period in February 2018. However, he claimed that his plans for reconciliation were thwarted due to the premature nikah (marriage) of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi during the iddat period.
The petition alleges that Imran Khan got married to his third wife during the iddat period, a specified waiting period for a woman before marrying someone else after the death of her spouse or divorce.
In an earlier interview, Maneka mentioned that six months before their divorce, Bushra Bibi separated from him and went to her parents’ house in Pakpattan. Maneka attempted to reconcile and confronted Bushra about a possible divorce, but she remained silent. Maneka claimed that the nikah between Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi took place on January 1, 2018.
Maneka accused Imran Khan of ruining his life and stigmatizing his entire family by engaging with his former wife. He expressed a desire for legal action against the respondents.
