Jibran Nasir reaches home soon after registration of his abduction FIR in Karachi

KARACHI: Famous lawyer and human rights activist Jibran Nasir returned home suddenly a few hours after Clifton police registered an FIR of his abduction.

About 20 hours after the abduction, Jibran Nasir reached home on Friday night. Karachi police officials talked to Nasir soon after he reached home to confirm his safety.

Jibran Nasir shared the news of his release through Twitter. He thanked his “friends, colleagues especially journalists, lawyers, bar councils, civil society, and politicians” for their efforts in his support.

“I will continue to keep struggling for the great cause that I am fighting for the reason for which you stood by with me and my family,” he added.

Kidnapping FIR registered

On Thursday night, some unknown armed men kidnapped Jibran Nasir at gunpoint and took him to an unknown place. On Friday, Mansha Pasha, wife of Jibran Nasir, filed a complaint with the Clifton Police Station.

Unknown armed persons kidnapped Jibran Nasir from Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi, in the jurisdiction of Clifton Police Station.

Clifton Police register a case of Jibran’s kidnapping

Meanwhile, the Clifton Police have registered FIR under two sections of the Pakistan Penal Code — 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

TV artist Mansha Pasha, along with her friends, is holding a protest outside Karachi Press Club at 4 pm on Friday to raise their voice against the kidnapping of Jibran Nasir.

Furthermore, she said that the Clifton Police first refused to register the kidnapping case of Jibran. However, when she threatened to approach the court, the police registered the case on her complaint.

According to Mansha Pasha: “On 01.06.2023 at about 11:00 pm, I was returning from dinner with my husband in our car. A white color Toyota Hilux/Vigo intercepted, hit our car from the front-left side, and forced us to stop near Ideal Bakery on 26th Street, Defence Phase 5, Karachi.”

She further said: “Another vehicle i.e. a Silver Corolla blocked our vehicle from behind and surrounded us. Some 15 people along with weapons came out from the vehicles in civil clothes and forced my husband to get out of the car. They manhandled him, then abducted him and took him away. His whereabouts are unknown till now.”
