Israel’s army chief approves multi-front battle plans with Hezbollah and Iran as White House expects attack this week

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi conducted an assessment and approved multi-front battle plans, the military announced in a brief statement on Monday, as the nation prepared for a possible attack from Iran and its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah.

“The chief of staff emphasized maintaining high readiness and continuing assessment efforts for both offense and defense,” the military stated.

According to media reports, White House has anticipated Iranian attack on Israel this week.

Meanwhile, the meeting included the IDF deputy chief of staff, the heads of the Intelligence and Operations directorates, the head of the Northern Command, the head of the Air Force, the head of the Home Front Command, and other senior officers.

This assessment took place as Fox News reported on Monday, citing regional sources, that Iran was expected to launch an attack on Israel within the next 24 hours.

The meeting occurred on the eve of Tisha B’Av, the Jewish day of mourning for the destruction of the two biblical temples, which was set to begin Monday evening. Speculation has arisen that this fast day might coincide with the timing of Iran’s anticipated attack.

This development marked a shift from last week’s reported assessments, which suggested that the Islamic Regime might delegate retaliation to Hezbollah, following the killing of its top military commander Fuad Shukr in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, hours before the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh on July 31.

Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for Haniyeh’s death, but Iran has held Israel accountable and vowed to retaliate.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated earlier on Monday that Israel has been reinforcing its defenses in recent days in anticipation of an attack from Iran and Hezbollah. He also mentioned that Israel is preparing for potential retaliatory strikes or preemptive actions if necessary.
