Islamabad high court extends interim bail of Imran Khan till May 9

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court today extended interim bail of Imran Khan till May 9.

The court announced its reserved verdict on Thursday afternoon. The court also directed Khan to appear in the trial court within 10 days.

Imran Khan appeared before the two-member bench of the IHC headed by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq on Thursday noon.

Earlier, Islamabad police tightened security around the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ahead of the appearance of PTI chairman and former prime minister in the Islamabad High Court to obtain interim bail in different cases.

Well armed police contingents have been deployed around the court to ensure law and order in the area. 

Imran Khan appeared before a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq. On Wednesday, the bench warned the former prime minister of revocation of his bail for not appearing in the court.

However, lawyer of Imran Khan assured the court that Khan will appear in the court on Thursday.

To maintain security, only 15 lawyers will be allowed to accompany Imran Khan inside the IHC.

Meanwhile, 10 lawyers from the attorney general and advocate general’s office will attend the hearing. 

The Chief Justice of IHC said, “There was no precedent of exemption from appearance during hearings in a bail petition.”

As per his lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar, Imran Khan did not attend hearing on Wednesday due to pain and swelling in his leg.

However, Imran Khan decided to appear before the court on Thursday.

Islamabad high court grants interim bail to Imran Khan till May 3

Last month, Islamabad High Court granted interim bail to PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan in inciting mutiny case. Khan appeared in the IHC on Friday and sought bail in this case.

The court has sent notices to the government to seeking reply till May 3 to ascertain whether the court can grant permanent bail to Imran Khan in this case.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan appeared in the Islamabad High Court to obtain bail in a case against him for inciting munity.

The court, after hearing arguments of the lawyer of Imran Khan and the advocate general, granted protective bail to Khan. The court ordered Imran Khan to ensure his appearance in person in his cases in the Islamabad High Court.

Earlier, Imran Khan departed from Lahore this morning appear before the Court. PTI leaders are fearing assassination attempt on Imran Khan today.
