TEHRAN/ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning Pakistan’s “unbalanced” and “unacceptable” drone attacks on a border village, resulting in the death of nine Pakistani citizens.
According to Alireza Marhamati, the deputy governor of Iran’s Sistan-Balochistan province, the attack occurred around 4:00 am local time, involving three drones that targeted a village in the Saravan region. The assault resulted in the destruction of four homes and the loss of ten lives.
Iran emphasized its commitment to good neighborliness and brotherhood between the two nations but asserted that it won’t tolerate actions that strain relations. Tehran Times reported today the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Iran.
The Foreign Ministry called on Pakistan to fulfill its commitment to preventing terrorist groups from using its soil as a base, considering the security and territorial integrity of Iran as non-negotiable.
The statement also addressed Iran’s earlier attack on the headquarters of the Iranian terrorist group Jaish ul-Adl in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
The ministry clarified that the preemptive operation aimed at countering an imminent terrorist threat and occurred away from residential areas, emphasizing the inherent duty of Iran’s border guards to protect its citizens.
In conclusion, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed the distinction between the friendly and brotherly relationship with Pakistan and armed terrorist groups.
It affirmed its commitment to maintaining neighborly ties and preventing external forces from disrupting the relationship, especially in light of ongoing issues in the Islamic world.
