KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi has returned to Iran following his visit to Pakistan.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah bid farewell to the esteemed guest at Karachi Airport early this morning.
During his three-day stay, the Iranian President held meetings with Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, Chief of Army Staff, Chairman Senate, Speaker of National Assembly, as well as the chief ministers and governors of Sindh and Punjab.
At a ceremony in Karachi on Tuesday, President Raisi stated, “No power in the world can disrupt the relationship between Pakistan and Iran.”
He made this remark during a ceremony held at the Sindh Chief Minister’s House as part of his visit to Karachi, the final leg of his trip to Pakistan.
President Raisi emphasized the deep historical, cultural, and religious ties between Pakistan and Iran, describing them as “historic.”
In recognition of his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, Sindh Governor Tessori, as the chancellor of the University of Karachi, awarded President Raisi an honorary Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD).
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Tessori expressed the University’s pride in conferring the honorary degree on the Iranian president.
He also stressed the importance of strong ties among Muslim countries and invited Iranian businesses to invest in Pakistan, highlighting the favorable business environment in the country.
President Raisi arrived in Islamabad on Monday for his three-day official visit from April 22 to 24, marking the first visit by any head of state to Islamabad after the February 8 general election.
Stringent security measures were implemented, including air surveillance and temporary internet suspension during the President’s movements. To minimize inconvenience to the public, local holidays were declared in Lahore and Karachi.
