Indian Minister to Attend SCO Summit in Pakistan for 24-Hour

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan tomorrow evening for a brief visit, as reported by Indian media. He will be attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit during his 24-hour stay.

Jaishankar is expected to hold crucial meetings with high-ranking Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. These discussions are anticipated to center on regional cooperation and diplomatic matters within the SCO framework.

According to reports, Jaishankar may also participate in a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in honor of the summit’s dignitaries. This visit represents a rare diplomatic interaction between India and Pakistan, given the recent strain in their relations.

In related news, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang has arrived in Islamabad for a historic visit, marking the first visit of a Chinese premier to Pakistan in 11 years. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed him personally at the airport. Following a warm reception, Li Qiang will head to the PM House for a formal guard of honor and is set to engage in one-on-one talks and delegation-level meetings to strengthen bilateral relations.
