ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan experienced a health issue while in Adiala jail, leading to a medical examination, according to reports on Wednesday.
It is reported that Khan had complained of stomach pain, prompting the authorities to provide him with medical attention.
Doctors conducted a medical checkup on Imran Khan within the jail premises and prescribed medication to alleviate his pain. Throughout the examination, the police were present.
Imran Khan is currently incarcerated in connection with a cipher case filed under the Official Secrets Act. His wife, Bushra Begum, has submitted a petition to the Islamabad High Court, expressing concerns about Khan’s safety, including potential risks of poisoning.
In addition to other requests, the petitions have also sought the provision of home-cooked food for Khan.
Zaheer Abbas Criticizes PCB Over Pakistan’s World Cup Performance
Meanwhile, Abbas voiced his concerns by emphasizing that appointing favorites to key positions harms the game and called for giving cricket responsibilities to experienced sportsmen.
He also expressed disapproval of former captain Inzamam ul Haq’s decision to resign as the chief selector during the World Cup, noting that it’s unusual for someone to step down while the team is participating in a World Cup.
The Pakistan team’s performance has faced criticism during the tournament, and the PCB has been embroiled in a controversy following the leaking of skipper Babar Azam’s private conversation with a top board official.
Inzamam’s resignation raised questions due to allegations of his involvement in a company managing players, which could pose conflicts of interest as the company represents several top Pakistani cricketers. To address these concerns, the PCB established a five-member fact-finding committee to investigate conflicts of interest related to team selection.
