Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to request permission for his personal medical team to conduct a checkup, according to reports. The petition was submitted through his legal counsel, Barrister Salman Safdar and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry.
Khan, who is currently detained at Adiala Jail, emphasized the importance of having his personal doctors examine him due to their thorough understanding of his medical history. The request comes amidst growing concerns from PTI leaders about his access to information and updates.
Earlier, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan voiced concerns about the conditions of Imran Khan’s detention, specifically noting that he has been deprived of newspapers and updates on recent constitutional amendments. Despite these restrictions, Gohar Ali Khan reported that Imran Khan remains in good physical health and high spirits following their meeting at the jail.
During the meeting, Gohar Ali Khan reiterated Imran Khan’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting national sovereignty. Imran Khan reportedly said, “I am ready to spend 100 years in jail if necessary, but I will not compromise on the Constitution or the dignity of the nation.“
It is worth noting that on October 15, PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan confirmed that Khan underwent a medical examination at Adiala Jail. According to the government’s report, the examination was conducted at 4 p.m. by a medical team consisting of an ENT specialist and a general physician. The team confirmed that Khan is in good health, having even engaged in an hour of exercise.
