Recent rumors about the potential marriage between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar and journalist Shiffa Yousafzai have ignited considerable discussion on social media.
The speculation was sparked when prominent journalist Najam Ul Hassan Bajwa congratulated a senior PTI official from Lahore for marrying a female journalist, leading many to assume it was Azhar and Yousafzai.
In a light-hearted manner, Azhar acknowledged the compliments about his appearance but assured his followers that he would share any significant life events directly with them if they were to occur. He emphasized that the rumors were unfounded.
Responding to the swirling gossip, Yousafzai took to social media to clarify the situation, stating, “Dear friends, I have not married anyone; I am being unjustly targeted on social media.”
She strongly refuted the claims, describing the discussions around her personal life as baseless and unnecessary.
Yousafzai highlighted the societal pressures women face in a male-dominated environment, where they often have to justify their professional existence.
Noting that this isn’t her first encounter with such targeting, she urged social media platforms to take down misleading posts and called on respectful individuals to refrain from engaging in the unfounded narrative. Yousafzai expressed gratitude to her supporters for their solidarity during this challenging time.
Meanwhile, Azhar echoed her sentiments, labeling the rumors as distractions from their shared mission to combat oppression in Pakistan.
He encouraged the public to report accounts spreading misinformation and to disregard the false claims. Together, they aim to highlight the importance of addressing such issues rather than getting caught up in gossip.
