Former chief minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar quits politics, condemns May 9 riots

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Former chief minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar announced to quit politics. He also condemned the May 9 violent riots.

Buzdar also followed the pattern that earlier PTI defectors followed to quit PTI and politics in the wake of May 9 attacks.

He said, “I condemn the May 9 incidents. The military installations targeted on May 9 are properties of the state of Pakistan. I believe we should avoid such incidents.” Sardar Usman Buzdar stated this while addressing a media conference in Lahore.

Buzdar said he always stood with the armed forces of Pakistan and will continue to do so.

“I have always committed to politics of nobility, but due to the current circumstances, I have decided to quit politics,” he added.

Arrests of PTI leaders and workers declared illegal

Lahore High Court declared arrests of PTI leaders and workers unlawful and ordered their release forthwith.

The LHC Judge Justice Safdar Saleem Shahid ordered the release of party workers and leaders, arrested from 11 districts in Punjab — Lahore, Sheikhupura, Wazirabad, Jhang, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Nankana Sahib, Gujranwala, and Narowal.

Activists of Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) take part in a thanksgiving day rally in Islamabad.

The court also declared null and void the arrest of senior PTI leader Yasmin Rashid and ordered her release.

The leaders and workers of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf are facing the wrath of the state after the May 9 attacks on the military installations, including the Lahore Corps Commanders House.

The PTI workers also attacked the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on May 9, soon after the arrest of Imran Khan.
