Fate worse than death: British woman murdered in Lahore

Young Lady back form UK in her home, found shot dead without any clue yet

A British woman was found dead at her rented house in Defence Lahore on Monday in an apparently blind murder case.

The Pakistani-origin British woman was identified as Maya (25) who was shot in the head. She had arrived from the UK and was staying in Pakistan with her family for some two months.

Cantt Operations SP Sayyed Ali told reporters that the deceased woman’s friend was living in her adjoining room at the upper portion of the house and the police were taking her help to resolve the homicide.

The SP was informed by an unidentified caller who had alerted them about the murder and after that forensic experts visited the scene and cordoned off the crime scene.

The woman was lying in a pool of blood in her room with her mobile phone near her body.

“We have seized the mobile phone for forensic analysis,” the SP said, adding the police teams were also trying to reach the nearby CCTV cameras to check the movement of any suspect.

According to Mr Sayyed, they had also contacted the parents and other family members of the deceased abroad to get details from them.

“We are also after two suspects and will share further details at a later stage,” the police said, adding Maya’s friend who was living at the same rented house shared no useful detail.

Due to global travel restrictions, the family was unable to travel to Pakistan. The police requested the parents to ask any close relative living in Lahore to be the complainant of the case.

The SP further said that once the police gets an application in this regard, the case would be registered. The body had been shifted to the city morgue for an autopsy.
