ECP starts proceedings against Imran Khan to remove him from PTI chairmanship after his disqualification in Toshakhana reference
ISLAMABAD: Finally, the Election Commission of Pakistan has started proceedings against Imran Khan, former prime minister and chairman of PTI to remove him from the chairmanship of the party after his disqualification in the Toshakhana reference.
ECP has disqualified former PM Imran Khan from his Mianwali seat in the Toshakhana reference against him.

The ECP has issued a notice to PTI for the removal of Imran Khan as its chairman.
According to media reports, the commission will hear the case on Dec 13.
Earlier, the ECP disqualified PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Nov 21, 2022 after finding him guilty of not sharing accurate details of Toshakhana gifts and proceeds from their sale when he was prime minister.
The ECP’s five-member bench, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja disqualified Imran Khan under Article 63 (p) of the Constitution.
The commission, in its verdict stated that Khan was no longer a member of the Parliament and that his response was “not correct”.
According to the ECP, Imran Khan was involved in corrupt practices and his seat in the National Assembly has been declared vacant.
Meanwhile, on the advice of the Election Commission of Pakistan, a local court in Islamabad has also initiated criminal proceedings against former prime minister Imran Khan.
