ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has sacked its spokesperson Haroon Shinwari who gave a highly controversial “without approval from the higher authorities” regarding by-polls in case Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assemblies are dissolved.
On Monday ECP spokesman Haroon Shinwari created a new controversy by saying to media that in case of dissolution of provincial assemblies, by-elections would be held in the respective provinces.
He also stated that by-polls will be held within 60 days after the dissolution of KP and Punjab.
ECP spokesman’s statement came after PTI Chairman announced on Nov 26 during long-march that PTI will resign from provincial assemblies.
The ECP on Tuesday issued directives to remove Shinwari from the post of spokesperson. ECP said that Shinwwari had responded to the media queries “without getting approval from the higher authorities”.
The Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja ordered the removal of Shinwari from his post.
